Boarding
A Home away from Home
Pymble offers boarding accommodation for secondary school boarders, with the girls living in one of three houses - Goodlet, Lang, Marden - within the College grounds. Our boarders come from all over Australia and the world.
Boarding at Pymble gives your daughter access to the best possible experience of College life and the many opportunities available to her at Pymble. The diverse and interesting co-curricular programs and the College's first-class facilities are literally 'at her door step'. The opportunities have only to be seized upon and enjoyed.
Each Boarding House is under the care of a Head of House and her family in a flat adjoining the house. All three Heads of House are young teachers who bring an understanding of teaching into their relationship with the girls. Two House Mistresses and two Assistant Mistresses assist in the running of each of the three Boarding Houses.
In Years 8 to 10 girls usually share a bedroom/study for three to six people. In Year 11, girls share bedrooms for two, although in some cases girls have their own rooms. Each Year 12 girl has her own bedroom/study. Kitchen, common room and verandah areas in each Boarding House create a comfortable home environment for the girls.
When girls first commence boarding at Pymble (usually in Year 7), we endeavour to help them to become familiar and comfortable in their new home. One way in which we do this is to place all new Year 7 boarders in Goodlet House for their first year at Pymble. In addition, we provide a 'City Parents' linkage whereby day girls' parents volunteer to take a special interest in one of our boarding students. Through this program some very strong friendships have developed between the girls and their city families.
At Pymble, friendship, cooperation and responsibility characterise the College's boarding community. Great care is taken that an atmosphere of graciousness and friendliness pervades the Boarding Houses.
