Winter School Holiday Program

The Pymble Holiday Program provides activities covering the areas of art/craft, food, sport, dance/performing arts and creative learning for children aged 5 to 16 years. The program hours have also been expanded, with the programs now available between the hours of 7.00am and 6.00pm.

The Pymble School Holiday Program are open to all children (boys and girls) from the community. The program provides a variety of safe, fun and exciting activities which are conducted by our professional staff.

Holiday Program Location - Junior School

The Pymble Holiday Program is located at Pymble Ladies' College Junior School. Entry to the Pymble Holiday Programs is via Gate 1. Please follow all signage. Enter through Gate 1, and take the lower road through to the parking area in the Preparatory School. Park and walk through to the Junior School.

Kids on Campus

8.30 am to 4.00 pm daily

Ages: 5 years to 12 years (boys and girls)

Cost: $45.00 per day

Daily activities: exciting craft, table tennis, cricket, indoor games, archery, indoor hockey, soccer, free swimming at lunchtime and many more. Friday is our barbecue day free of charge to all Kids on Campus attendees!

Students who enrol into other programs and camps inside the hours of Kids on Campus are able to join Kids on Campus once their program has finished. Any care outside of these hours will incur an additional charge.

Additional Costs:

Early-Morning Care – 7.00 am to 7.45 am – $8 per child per day.

Mid-Morning Care – 7.45am to 8.30am - $8 per child per day

Afternoon Care – 4.00 pm to 6.00 pm – $10 per child per hour each day.



Trek it Thursdays

The Pymble Holiday Program, we will be ‘trekking it’ to exciting places in Sydney. The group of children and staff will take off on wonderful and exciting adventures! No responsibility is taken for missed excursions.  Refunds cannot be issued. Spending money is limited to $10 per child, however it is the child’s responsibility. Staff will not be responsible for any lost money. Please wear the appropriate shoes and bring minimal items along

Week 1 – Thursday 27 June

Movies – Monsters University

The group will travel by train to Hornsby Westfield, Events Cinemas to see Monsters University! Disney/Pixar's prequel to Monsters, Inc. (2001), about how Mike (voiced by Billy Crystal) and Sully (John Goodman) first met and became friends at the University of Fear. Children will receive a small popcorn and juice at the movies. Still bring lunch for after the movies. Rating: G There is a maximum of 30 places available.

Week 2 – Thursday 4 July

Strike Bowling & Laser Tag - Chatswood

The group will travel by train to Strike Bowling and Laser Tag at Chatswood Mandarin Centre. The group will participate in 1 game of bowling and 2 games of laser tag. Students are asked to bring their lunch and water for the day. Students aged 5 to 7 years do require parental permission to participate in the laser tag, please see the Holiday Program staff for further information. There is a maximum of 30 places available.

Week 3 – Thursday 11 July

Powerhouse Discovery Centre, Castle Hill

The group will travel by bus to the new Powerhouse Discovery Centre at Castle Hill. The group will get to make discoveries in the inspiring make and do activities, Wacky Winter Wall Pocket & Marvellous Mini Hats, to make and take home. The group will then get to experience the show Utter Nonsense, a small theatrical production with props, puppets, lighting and changing scenery. Mad Scientist Uncle Henry is inventing a machine in the hope that it will bring him fame and fortune. Please note, there are no permanent food facilities within the discovery centre, students are asked to ensure they bring enough food and water for the day. There is a maximum of 25 students.

ART & CRAFT

Card making

Be creative and spend the day making a lovely assortment of cards to either keep or give away.

In this workshop, make your own set of cards to give to someone special (birthday cards, thank you cards, farewell cards).  You will learn lots of different techniques from stenciling, embossing and cuttlebug machines. Your collection of cards can have lots of ribbons and embellishments to create your own design. Students will be given a kit which includes cards and envelopes, cellophane bags, paper, pattern, ribbon and embellishments.

Patchwork Cards

In this workshop, make your own set of cards to give to someone special (birthday cards, thank you cards, farewell cards).  You will create beautiful cards by using small squares of fabric and finishing with different embellishments Students will be given a kit which includes cards and envelopes, cellophane bags, paper, pattern, ribbon and embellishments.

Brownies Galore

Who ever thought that there was only one type of brownie available? In this one day workshop, you will learn that there are many different types of flavours to create! Learnt in New York, students will acquire the skills to make many different flavours and styles of brownies. Students will be given a kit which includes all ingredients and recipes.

Cake Pops

In this one day workshop, you will learn to create the craze of cake on a stick – Cake Pops! In many flavours and designs, these bite-sized cake creations will delight the sweetest tooth. Lots of different ideas and take home a lovely bunch of cakes on a stick. Students will be given a kit which includes all ingredients and recipes.

Cupcakes for Beginners

In this fun cupcake making workshop, learn to bake simple and effective designs for the novice cook.  All your creations will be wrapped up in your presentation box for you to take home (unless you eat them first!). There is a maximum of 12 places available per class. Students will be given a kit which includes everything required for the workshop.

Les Petits Fours – French

No doubt you’ll love eating these dainty sweet (or savoury) French treats, but did you know that petit four means ‘little oven’?  Be inspired by these delightful mini treats and learn how to combine several flavours and textures to create one heavenly mouthful that tastes as good as it looks!  Originally, petits fours were small confectionaries, such as macarons, meringues or biscuits, which were baked with the heat remaining in the oven after the main baking had been done.  In this workshop you will become a confiseur (or confiseuse!) for the day and learn the delicate skills needed to create these mouth-watering appetisers and desserts.  You’ll pick up heaps of French words and phrases as you go, and take home your beautifully crafted creations in a gorgeous gift box at the end of the day.

La Cucina Italiana – Italian

Everyone knows that Italian cuisine can be very indulgent, and what better time than a mid-winter’s day to indulge yourself with Italian dishes such as arancini and panzerotti (the panzerotto is fried pizza dough filled with whatever you like, such as tomato sauce, mozzarella, ham, prosciutto or even a sweet panzerotto, if filled with Nutella, cream or ice-cream).  We also learn how to make Frappe, a typical dessert for Carnivale and we even turn our hand to the very famous cannoli siciliani!  We invite you to chase away the winter chills these holidays in our heart-warming Italian kitchen where you will discover some exciting new Italian recipes and learn lots of new Italian words and phrases too!

Dragon Boat Festival – Mandarin

Dragon boat racing has a rich history of ceremonial tradition, with dragons traditionally believed to be the rulers of rivers, lakes and seas, dominating the clouds, mists and rains from heaven.  In this exciting new workshop you will learn all about the Chinese Dragon Boat Festival and experience all the mystery and magic inspired by these formidable mythical creatures!  Come and find out how to make (and eat!) the traditional, yummy rice dumplings or zòng zi associated with the celebration.  You will design and make your very own Dragon Boat and go forward to compete in the Dragon Boat Racing Game.  And in traditional fashion, your wonderful day will draw to a close as you make a perfume pouch and tie the Five-colour Silk Thread!

Beauty Shop

Ever wanted to make your very own natural soaps, bath fizzies and bath salts? Your senses will be delighted over two days as you create your very first batch of handmade soaps and bath products. All natural ingredients will be provided, with your own creativity as the inspiration. These glorious products are extra special because they are made from all natural and organic ingredients free from harmful nasties like paraben. So join us and spoil yourself or someone you care about with this unique workshop. We will have so much fun creating scrubby, moisturising soaps and bath fizzies or salts using delightful ingredients such as goats milk, oatmeal, coconut or perhaps you prefer something more luxurious like chocolate or even lavender or rose petals. Choose from scents including cinnamon, vanilla, apple, rose, peach, green tea, and so on. Remember these are your personalised handmade goodies so you can be creative and experiment. Debating Club

As with all competitive sports, debaters require rigorous practice to improve. This course involves numerous practice debates, facilitated by a seasoned debating instructor.  The course aims to help students to consolidate their knowledge, hone their skills and gain exposure to some common and or interesting topics.  Class sizes are kept small (approx. 8 students) to ensure each student gets individualised feedback.  This course is suitable for repeat participation as materials change every school holiday. Pamper Party

Why should the grown-ups have all the fun?  Feel like a day full of getting glamorous? We start the day with pink lemonade and baby cupcakes before we enjoy a mini manicure, a foot spa, file and polish pedicure and then an indulgent mini facial, finishing off with having our make-up done.  Throughout the day, we will learn all about grooming and personal beauty from a professional.  All make up is supplied and expert advice will be given to ensure you look your very best. Every girl will leave feeling pampered and perfectly glamorous!

Perfume Shop

A truly unique day which will teach you how to make your own perfume scent. Join us and have fun making the perfect scent that compliments your individuality. A unique perfume created especially by you cannot be any more special! Your senses may be tickled by vanilla, rose, jasmine or gardenia. Make it a subtle, sweet scent, perhaps you prefer fruity or something a little more floral as your top note. It's all up to you! Mix together the scents you most connect with to create your very own masterpiece. A beautifully presented day that celebrates one of nature’s gifts. Essentials oils and all perfume making products will be supplied for the day and you get to take a bottle of your masterpiece home to enjoy.

Practice Debates

This 2 day workshop, aims to give students the opportunity to participate in as many practice debates as possible. Debating is a sport and debators require rigorous practice to hone their skills. 

This is a great course for those:

•           Looking for some practice in the offseason;

•           Looking an intensive opportunity to boost skills or troubleshoot key areas of difficulty; and

•           Prior attendees of any of Speak Out Education’s other debating courses who would like to hone and consolidate their knowledge.

Princess Party

Every Princess deserves a day of pampering.  A beautifully presented day filled with pink lemonade, baby cupcakes and of course glitter, gloss and more. Enjoy a make-over day starting with a mini manicure with some glitter nail polish on fingers and toes.  We also treat you to a mini facial, and a make over to make your eyes dazzle, cheeks shimmer and lips shine, finishing off with glitter hair spray. Public Speaking Essentials

The ability to speak confidently is crucial to a high school student’s academic and social success. We teach students the foundations of good public speaking and reinforce this through classroom practice. The techniques students will learn to overcome fear and prepare for formal speaking situations can be used to improve their confidence in social interactions and structure in written school work. Course content will also feature:

Actors Away!

Spend a day working on everything to do with your acting! From voices, to characterisation, telling stories and acting games to build confidence and increase improvisation skills - this day is jam packed with fun! We will look and work on scripts from screen and movies as well as plays on stage and each child will get the chance to work on a monologue that they can prep and take home for auditions or personal practice.  This is the perfect workshop for the young actor that wants to have fun and really get involved within a safe and friendly environment.

Drama Magic

Ever dreamed of performing on a stage? Do you love making up plays and scenes at home? Come and join us as we enjoy everyone’s favourite drama games and explore the magical world of theatre. Indulge your creativity and imagination as we try out different acting techniques and games to satisfy both beginners and experienced actors! Where else can you fly to the moon, eat a cactus and float away on the world’s largest marshmallow all in one day?!

Film & TV Workshop

This workshop is spread over 3 days throughout a 2 week period. Fancy yourself as the next big movie star? Do you have a talent for story telling? Are you a stage actor wanting to extend yourself? Come and create your own movie! We cover the processes of story boarding, script development and basic production techniques. We send location scouts out, learn about screen plays and scripts, our cinematographers practice their shots and we discuss set and costumes. The class will discuss the medium of film, working in the television industry and the difference between stage and TV acting. We then film our own movie, practicing our acting for film and camera techniques, which gets professionally edited. The course culminates in a glamorous ‘red carpet’ event- the premier of our own movie! All students will take home a copy of their work on DVD to keep. Please note: for this workshop to run, there must be a minimum of 6 students participating over the 3 days.

Musical Theatre Masterclass!

In this one day workshop we will work on creating and maintaining character across all the disciplines - Singing, Dancing and Acting.  In a fun, relaxed and exciting one day workshop each child will get their own star character and develop that same role throughout the whole day.  This workshop is designed for the budding performer who wants to take it that little bit further and really commit to creating a fully developed, well rounded and honest performance.  By looking at this one character across our singing, dancing and acting scenes we can learn how to use all elements of performance - voice, physicality, timing, music etc - to add new layers to our characters and culminate in a mini performance where they get to interact with the other characters in their own little musical!

Puppetry Workshop

Puppetry is a form of theatre that involves the manipulation of puppets. It is very ancient, believed to have originated 3000 years BC. We explore different ways to bring puppets to life from traditional hand puppets to contemporary body puppets. We explore our story telling skills and creativity through games, puppet skits and mime with body puppets. The day culminates in a puppet- making session where we make our own puppets and produce a themed performance. All abilities welcome, it will be a relaxed, fun filled atmosphere!

Singing Bee

Do you love singing? Be it being in public, for fun or just in the shower! If you enjoy singing and want to learn how to sing better and look after and stretch your voice - then this one day workshop is for you. We will spend the day surrounded by music.  Using vocal technique exercises and playing around with sounds and ideas we will not only show you how to warm up your voice, but what exercises to do to get your voice stronger and more confident.  We will also look at ways to make and keep your voice healthy and free! Including both solo and group singing we will look at a variety of music styles including pop, theatre, rock, jazz using music from their favourite artists and shows!

Multi Sports Clinics

The multi-sports clinic is a one day program in which children will participate in a series of sports and activities. They will participate in novelty games to warm up then move through to specific sports such as soccer, basketball, t-ball, cricket and AFL rotating throughout the day.

Tennis Camp

Learn to play tennis and have fun with your friends these holidays. Tennis is a great game to learn and can be an enjoyable and social skill that can be used throughout your life. The Pymble Holiday Program offers a Tennis Camps every school holidays. The camp is five days of stroke correction, match play and games run by our qualified and experienced coaching staff whom have the skill to encourage campers to play at their best. The camp offers personalised coaching in graded groups instructing every shot (forehands/backhands/serves/volleys/smashes) whilst learning court craft and strategy. A round robin tournament is also played throughout the week, with great prizes for the top four places. For our tennis campers aged 5 to 8 years, you will participate in the Tennis Australia hotshots program, with its red/orange/green sponge ball format using the mini nets as the progression of learning the game of tennis. The coaching staff is guided by the Head Tennis Coach at Pymble Ladies’ College, former No 1 Australian ranked female player Kristine Radford-Kunce. It is open to all levels from beginners to advanced. Every camper receives a free tennis gift. You will have a chance to win trophies and prizes - lucky door prize of Babolat tennis racquet. A presentation will be held on the final day. Camp will proceed regardless of wet weather

Time: 9.00 am to 3.00 pm        Ages: 5 years to 16 years (boys and girls)

Dates: Week 2 Monday 1 July to Friday 5 July

Cost: $200.00 (5 days) or $50.00 per day
