Sport

Pymble supports its promise of a balanced education with a wide range of competitive and non-competitive sporting activities for every level of ability. Students are encouraged to participate in whichever sport they desire and the College will create new teams where there is demand.

The College aims to provide all students with an enjoyable sporting experience that fosters an appreciation of the benefits of competition and sportsmanship, the pursuit of excellence and fulfilment of individual potential.

Pymble Secondary School students participate in IGSSA (Independent Girls’ Schools Sports Association) carnivals and competitions. The aim of IGSSA activities is to reflect the values and ethos common to its member schools and reinforce the appropriate components of their Personal Development, Health and Physical Education programs. For those sports not offered by IGSSA, Pymble enters district, regional and invitational competitions and carnivals.

Students in representative teams are offered the opportunity to travel to other countries including the UK, USA and New Zealand to participate in invitational sporting tournaments.

Pymble Junior School students participate in IPSHA (Independent Primary School Heads' Association) competitions. Junior School inter-school Saturday sport is available for students in Years 4 to 6. Year 3 students can participate in a program called Aussie Sports. This runs on a weekday afternoon and provides Year 3 students with the opportunity to experience the sports that are available for them to play from Year 4.

There are a number of non-competitive sporting activities available outside school hours to Preparatory School students. These include artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, swimming and tennis.

The College also offers the Pymble Elite Sportswomen Program to talented athletes in Years 7 to 12 across all sports. The program is designed to foster the development of these athletes through assistance and motivation and to help maintain a balance between high level sporting commitments and academic studies.
