Pymble in Wagga Wagga

General News

Members of the Pymble community from the Wagga Wagga region joined Pymble staff for a function in Wagga Wagga last weekend. Current Pymble families, ex-students, families of ex-students and prospective families enjoyed a wonderful evening with the Director of Boarding, Mrs Deanne Elliott and the Principal, Mrs Vicki Waters.

Pymble hosted the evening to coincide with the NSW Boarding Schools Expo held in Wagga Wagga. The College attracted a lot of interest from visitors to the expo and it also provided a wonderful opportunity to meet with members of our Pymble community who dropped by to say hello.

Pymble is attending the NSW Boarding Schools Expo in Narrabri on 20 and 21 July and will also host a dinner on the evening of 21 July. For details please email Mrs Rebecca Pearce at rpearce@pymblelc.nsw.edu.au

Wrap with Love

General News

On the morning of Tuesday 5 June, Years 11 and 12 students were joined by their mothers, grandparents, ex-students and teachers at the College’s annual ‘Wrap with Love’ knit in. The atrium in the Senior School Centre – Kate Mason Building was a sea of knitting circles with frantic clicking of knitting needles creating squares to make into rugs, all in the name of a very worthy cause.

Since commencing just four weeks ago, students and members of the Pymble community have knitted 307 squares. Some of these squares have been sewn together to form wraps. Squares will continue to be knitted in the coming weeks. Thank you to everyone who supported Pymble’s 2012 Wrap with Love, the generosity of spirit will help those less fortunate to cope with the extreme hardships of winter.

Wrap with Love first started 20 years ago and in the past 19 years has provided 291,797 wraps to keep people warm in over 75 countries, including Australia.

Seeing Double at Pymble

General News

Staff could be forgiven for thinking they are seeing double at Pymble Ladies’ College with 14 sets of twins, including five sets of identical twins attending the College.

The twins gathered for a morning tea at the College on 25 May to meet one another and to celebrate what’s special about being a twin.

All the girls agreed it was fun to be a twin. “You always have someone to share your thoughts with and as they are just like you, they fully understand,” said Year 12 twin Jana Birkby about her twin sister, Micha Birkby. “As you get older, you appreciate the benefits of having a twin.”

The twins are spread across different year groups at the College, with three sets of twins in Year 10, two sets of twins in Year 12, Year 8 and Year 4 and single sets of twins in Years 2, 5, 6, 7 and 9.
