Pymble Ladies' College

Sport

At Pymble we understand the importance of a well-rounded education. We encourage girls to participate in whatever sport they desire and offer teams for every level of talent. In fact, we will often create new teams to cater for all the girls who are willing to play a particular sport. Our wide range of sporting activities means that each girl can find a sport which she enjoys.

Pymble seeks to provide every student with the opportunity to participate in competitive sport. Whilst fun, enjoyment and an appreciation of the benefit of sport and the ideals of sportsmanship are paramount, the pursuit of excellence and fulfilling each individual's potential is also of the utmost importance. Pymble prides itself on attaining its objectives of maximum participation and success in interschool competition.

Pymble as a member school of AHIGS (Association of Heads of Independent Girls' Schools) is eligible to participate in IGSSA Competition (Independent Girls' Schools Sports Association). IGSSA promotes and organises Sporting Carnivals and Competitions as approved by AHIGS. The aim of IGSSA activities is to reflect the values and ethos common to its member schools and reinforce the appropriate components of their PDHPE programs. IGSSA has a unique opportunity to develop in its students the values, attitudes and skills that promote a healthy and balanced lifestyle and to promote and encourage equity for women in sport. IGSSA activities are an extension of those provided within individual schools.

The New South Wales Combined Independent Schools Sports Council (NSWCISSC) was established to provide independent school students with the opportunity to participate in State and National sporting activities previously available only to State Schools. Girls who excel in IGSSA Competition have the opportunity to represent IGSSA, then CIS at State Championships and finally the All Schools Team, which competes in the Australian Championships. The NSWCISSC thus enables involvement in various levels of competition which provides students with such valuable sporting, social and cultural experiences.

Pymble offers excellent competitive and non-competitive sporting opportunities. A wide and varied range of sports and recreationally based activities are offered each term. Pymble concentrates on IGSSA competition; however, for those sports not offered by IGSSA, Pymble enters district, regional and invitation competitions and carnivals.

Girls in representative teams are offered the opportunity of travelling to other countries including the UK, America and New Zealand to participate in invitation sporting tournaments.
