A gap year refers to a period of time (generally 12 months) following the completion of secondary education studies.
Pymble employs a number of Gap Year staff who commence in July each year and conclude the following June. Gap Year staff are provided with accommodation in one of our three Boarding Houses and have access to all College facilities. During term time, Gap Year staff are provided with all meals and have access to kitchen facilities during term breaks. Gap Year staff receive a monetary allowance to assist in covering additional expenses.
Gap Year staff duties include, but are not limited to:
- Boarding House duties including supervision in the Evening Study Program, escorting Boarders to appointments and assistance in ensuring the smooth running of the Houses.
- Assisting teachers in the Day school including experiences working in the Preparatory and Junior Schools, Health Care Centre and various specialty areas including Drama and Music.
- Coaching and assisting with sport and sporting activities
- Gap Year staff usually work up to 30 hours per week.
Senior First Aid and Life Saving qualifications or experience are desired, as is previous participation in community programs including the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.
