(Two or more lessons per week receive a 15 per cent discount beginning with the second lesson)

Terms and Conditions

Swimming lessons are paid for on a monthly basis. All payments for Learn to Swim and Squads are due on the first business day of the month, by direct debit with either a credit card or bank account.

The monthly fee will be reduced for lessons missed due to the facility being closed for public holidays. The facility will be completely closed to all programs on all Public Holidays.

Failure to provide a working credit card within three days after due date will result in a $10.00 handling fee per swimmer for each declined payment transaction. Please be aware that your account must be paid in full prior to your next lesson. Please note the seven day cancellation policy prior to the end of the month. See Policies and Procedures for further details.

There will be a $10.00 replacement fee for any lost of wrist band or card.

Swimming Caps and Goggles can be purchased from our Learn to Swim Reception Desk. Please see customer service staff for pricing information and product choice.

Enrolment Policies

All Learn to Swim classes operate as a perpetual booking.

Lesson fees will be charged as a monthly, Direct Debit payment.

Enrolments are possible after commencement of the month but are dependent on availability. Enrolments that are completed after the first business day of the month will be charged a pro-rata fee for the initial month. This fee will then move to a Direct Debit payment from the following month.

Students are placed in classes according to their skill-based ability.

All new students over the age of three years must undergo an assessment prior to enrolment.

Students under three years of age will be placed in a Water Comfort trial class.

Pymble Swimming is a term based program, which follows the NSW Public School term dates. During the school holidays periods, your monthly fees are adjusted accordingly. For any families who wish to continue swimming during the school holidays, we offer holiday intensive lessons, which are charged in addition to your perpetual program fee.

All bookings will automatically roll over from month to month unless you notify us otherwise in writing. Please refer to the cancellation policy.

Make-up Lesson Policy

At Pymble Swimming we place a large focus on the quality and consistency of the program that we deliver. Make-up lessons disrupt classes and can cause children to be unsettled with different instructors and faces in the class.

We will allow one make-up lesson per child, per payment period for a missed lesson. To be entitled to a make-up lesson, we require the following:

  • Class cancellation completed on our online booking system. This must be done prior to the missed lesson with minimum 24 hours notification.
  • OR

  • An email may be sent to learntoswim@pymblelc.nsw.edu.au with a minimum of 24 hours notification prior to the lesson.

Please be advised that:

  • Without this notification, the make-up lesson will be forfeited.
  • Once a make-up lesson is booked, it cannot be rescheduled.
  • Make-up classes cannot be guaranteed and options may be restricted during busy periods.
  • Make-up classes are subject to class availability. We are unable to over-book classes to cater for make-up lessons.
  • Make-up lessons are only valid during the month of absence. Make-up lessons cannot be carried through to the next month or holiday intensives under any circumstance.
  • Private lessons qualify for a make-up in a combined class only.
  • Make up lessons are non-transferrable from child to child or within families.

Cancellation Policy

In order to withdraw from your lessons, we require written notice seven days prior to the end of the month in which you wish to stop your swim lessons. A request for withdrawal inside of these seven days will not be approved.

In order to notify us of your intent to withdraw from your lessons, please fill out a withdrawal form at Reception. This will ensure that your request is met promptly, and that you are not charged on the following monthly debit run. Our cancellation form is also accessible on our website for your convenience.

Payment Policy

All Learn to Swim lesson fees will be charged on a Direct Debit basis. Payments will be deducted from your chosen credit card or bank account on the first business day of each month.

Refund/Family Credit Policy

Refunds will only be issued in extenuating circumstances. Any requests for a refund must be applied in writing and addressed to the Aquatic Centre Manager, Mr Ben Lehnen.

Any request for Family Credits will only be considered if there is an illness or injury that will affect the swimmer's attendance for more than four weeks. In this instance, a medical certificate must be received.

Faecal Response Policy

In the case of faecal matter being reported within the pool, we are required by law to immediately close the pool while we remove the matter and treat the pool chemically.

This will ensure the spread of infectious disease is not possible. In this case, we will need to cancel lessons.

Where we can, we will schedule a make-up lesson for those people who have been affected by the pool closure.

Procedures

Links Wristbands

Upon enrolment into our Learn to Swim Program, all registered children and adults will receive a wristband. This wristband will link to our computer software program to communicate that you are an active member in our program, allow us to see medical and contact information and manage your booking. Please ensure that each time you and your children come to their Learn to Swim or Squad lesson that this wrist band is used to scan themselves into their class prior to the commencement of the class.

If a wristband is lost, a $10.00 fee will be charged for a new wristband.

Swim Nappies

All children who are under the age of three years or any child not yet fully toilet trained are required to wear both a disposable and a waterproof, reusable diaper. Please make sure you are buying a reusable diaper that is not too big for your child. The diaper should fit snug around the legs. The diaper must always be secured by a swimming costume over the top. Entry into the pool will not be granted without these.

Change Room Usage

Parents and children who are five years of age and over must use the locker room of their own sex.

Baby Change Tables

All babies must be changed on the baby change tables provided in both the male and female change rooms. There is no exception to this rule, due to our strict health and cleanliness policy.

Talking to Instructors

To ensure the quality of our program is not compromised, please refrain from talking to your child’s teacher before, during or after their lesson, as this will impact the lessons of all the other children in the program. Our Progress Advisor, who will be on pool deck during Learn to Swim hours is always happy to discuss any specific details about your child’s lessons.

Poolside Behavior and Safety

Please be respectful of all other families by making sure your children, whether in lessons or not, are being supervised at all times. A parent or caretaker must check each child in and is responsible for their safety and good behavior unless that child is in the water with their designated instructor.

Entering the Pool

Please do not allow or encourage children to enter the pool until their instructor directs them. This is one of the important safety messages that we enforce in our program, to ensure that children learn respect for the water and only enter the water on direction of a responsible adult.

Class Changes

There may be times where class and/or instructor changes need to be made. Pymble Swimming reserves the right to alter class times and instructors if the need arises. In extreme cases, where we may be short staffed, the class maximum may be exceeded and classes offering different ability may be combined.

Swimming Caps

All aquatic program users must wear a swimming cap in the pool at all times. Swimming caps are available for purchase at Reception.

Pool Use

Children are not to use the pool outside of their scheduled lesson times.

Photos

Pymble Swimming may occasionally take photos of your child during lesson times. These photos may be used on our website, social media or for promotional purposes. If you do NOT want photos taken of your child, please notify us.

Q: Why are year round swimming lessons so important?
A: At Pymble Swimming, we strongly encourage year round swimming lessons for all levels of swimmers. There are many benefits to participating in swimming lessons during winter. In fact, winter is one of the best times of the year to swim! Classes tend to be smaller which reduces the child to teacher ratio. Your child is more likely to progress further if they continue to practice and build upon the skills that they have already learnt during the warmer months. It can be hard to re-establish the swimming lesson routine if your child has had a significant break from lessons.
Q: What are our current operational hours for Learn to Swim?
A: Our initial Learn to Swim hours of operation will be:
Tuesday, Thursday and Friday mornings: 9.00am-11.30am
Monday to Friday afternoon: 3.00pm-6.30pm
Saturday morning: 8.00am-12.30pm

As our program grows, and there is higher demand for additional classes to be scheduled, we will ensure that all of our customers are notified of any extended operating hours.

Q: When and how will we pay our fees?
A: All Learn to Swim and Squad families will be placed onto Direct Debit, with payments charged on a monthly basis. The Direct Debit run will occur on the first day of every calendar month. All fees will be charged on a pro rata basis.
Q: What happens if my child’s lesson falls on a Public Holiday or in a Term Break?
A: Our fees are charged on a pro-rata basis. Any lessons that fall on a Public Holiday will automatically be deducted from the fee that you pay for that particular month.
Q: What happens if I want to cancel my classes?
A:  At Pymble Swimming, we will never lock you into a contract. It is your responsibility to complete your cancellation request prior to the end of the current month of swimming to ensure that you are not debited for the following month. Cancellation forms are available at Reception, as well as on our website. To cancel your classes, Pymble Swimming seven days notice prior to the month of cancellation.

Q: Are the staff at Pymble Swimming qualified and experienced?
A: Our professional Learn to Swim and coaching staff are experienced and proven in the industry. All staff are trained to teach the ‘Pymble Swimming’ way to ensure that our programs display consistency and quality across the board.
Q: Will the teaching be consistent from week to week?
A: At Pymble Swimming, we place high importance on consistency and will do our utmost to provide your child with the most consistent learning experience as possible. However, there are occasions when teacher changes are required. We aim to ensure that staff members who are away are replaced by instructors who have the teaching skills to ensure the lesson is of the same quality.
Q: What will happen if there is an ‘accident’ in the pool!?
A: If there is an incident, including faecal matter or vomit in the pool, by law, we are required to close the pool, and cancel lessons. This will allow for the pool to be treated with the appropriate chemicals to ensure any disease or sickness is not able to spread in the pool.
Q: Will I receive a Make-up Lesson if the pool is closed?
A: Where possible, we will provide make-up lessons in the case of pool closures due to accidents in the pool. If we are unable to reschedule, we will reimburse the lost lesson through family credit.
Q: What should I do if my child is crying during a Learn to Swim class?
A: Please be assured that a crying child in lessons is not uncommon in the Learn to Swim environment. The crying is a natural expression of a child’s emotional discomfort usually due to the new pool environment, or because of separation from you.
If your child is clearly worried before swimming lessons, the most important thing parents can do is to stay calm.
Walk your child over to their instructor, hand them over to the teacher, and walk back to your chair calmly, and with a happy expression on your face. By handing your child over to the teacher calmly, you are telling your child that you trust the teacher. Our swimming teachers will then have already achieved the first step of gaining the trust of your child.
Q: How long is too long for my child to cry in swimming classes?
A: On average, most crying will stop after the fourth consistent lesson. At the very least, the crying should diminish with each lesson. If there are no signs of improvement, our management staff will advise you of the best action to take for your child. There are many different factors that trigger crying, and we will help you discover the best responses for your child.
Q: When can a child swim independently?
A: It is extremely important to remember that every child is different, and to avoid comparing the progress of your child to other children their age.
Many parents are led to believe that their children cannot even start learning to swim independently until they are three years of age. This is absolutely not the case! Children are extremely talented and capable. When starting lessons from a young age (five months) and with lessons year round, we can guarantee you will see the results in your child’s swimming before the age of three.
Q: Am I allowed to talk to my child’s teacher before, during or after my child’s class?
A: Your child’s swimming teacher needs to have their full focus on the children they are teaching and awareness of the pool environment. Please avoid talking to the instructors before, during and after classes, to make sure the quality of what is happening in the water is not compromised. Our Progress Advisor are always happy to talk, that’s what we are here for!
Q. What if I am going away for 2 weeks, but I don’t want to give up my spot?
A. Unfortunately, we are not able to suspend Learn to Swim lessons. If you wish to secure your spot while you are away, you will need to pay the monthly fee to do so. Otherwise, you may cancel your classes, and re-book when you return.
