Our program of sequential outdoor learning experiences for students from Kindergarten through to Year 12 is referred to as the Outdoor Education Continuum. Intentionally building in challenge and duration, year on year, it is strategically designed to support the personal growth and character development of our girls.
Kindergarten to Year 2
Nature play
Our youngest girls are introduced to outdoor education with gentle, creative, discovery-based play and activities. This encourages them to get in touch with the bush environment and feel comfortable outdoors.
Year 3
First overnight experience
The girls experience team building, nature activities and unstructured play. This overnight experience in a new environment prepares students for the longer and more adventurous programs in the years to come.
Years 4, 5 and 6
Outdoor skills building
Building on their outdoor skills from Kindergarten to Year 3, students engage with more challenging outdoor learning opportunities that begin to push them outside of their comfort zone. Programs use adventure-based learning both at Vision Valley and at exciting external sites to allow students to connect with their peers and natural environment.
Year 7
First expedition
Over a multi-night program, students explore Vision Valley and surrounds through off-site journeys in the stunning local bushland and waterways.
Year 8
An expedition adventure
This five-day off-site camping program on the Colo River involves bushwalking, canoeing, climbing, mud runs, obstacle courses and team initiatives.
Year 9
Residential Program
The Year 9 Residential Program is the signature experience of the Pymble Ladies’ College Outdoor Education Continuum.
Year 10
Choose your adventure
Students choose their own level of challenge in Year 10, testing their courage across a variety of adventure modes and trip durations. Ranging from five-day to nine-day adventures, Pymble girls can choose to journey on water or land for the pinnacle compulsory program in our Outdoor Education Continuum
Years 11-12
Adventure extensions
Students have the opportunity to extend their immersion in the outdoors through a challenging multi-day journey expedition. A unique program is developed for students each year, from the Larapinta Trail in the Northern Territory, to water-based journeys in New Zealand or trekking in Nepal.
