A wiser choice for your daughter
From Year 4, Pymble girls can take part in our Wise Phone initiative. The College-managed mobile phone gives under 16s the practical connection of a smartphone, without access to an internet browser or social media. It’s a considered, research-informed choice designed to support student friendships and wellbeing, and to give parents peace of mind when weighing up social pressure to give their daughter a smartphone against the instinct to protect her childhood.

The results
Better sleep:
43% of Wise Phone users achieve the recommended hours of sleep for their age, compared to 22% of smartphone users.
Less screen time:
31% of Wise Phone users exceed one hour of screen time on their phone per day, compared to 75% of smartphone users.
Significant reduction in:
Social media use (39%), online gaming (35%), and time spent on secondary electronic devices (26%).
Healthier habits:
Wise Phone users reported a 26% increase in outdoor activities and sports, 25% growth in time spent on personal hobbies, and more time spent reading (22%) and with family (18%).
How does it work?
A College-managed phone under the Pymble Wise Phone Initiative gives your daughter specific applications and phone features based on her age and year group.
The College will ensure she has access to the apps and features she needs, without distracting and potentially harmful apps, including social media.
Choosing your Pymble Wise Phone
Your daughter can choose one of three options:
- An Android device provided by the College: Any student participating in the Pymble Wise Phone Initiative has the option to receive an Android phone, free of charge.
- An iPhone purchased through the Pymble Wise Phone Initiative portal (Year 7+): The College has extended the phone options available under the Pymble Wise Phone Initiative to include an iPhone 16e.
- Bring your own device (BYOD) (Year 7+): Pymble also provides students with the option to have their existing device re-programmed to be compatible with the Wise Phone Initiative.
