Friendship and kindness programs
It all starts with friendship and belonging…
A suite of evidence-based programs guides our girls through their formative years in the Junior School, teaching the fundamental tools and language to develop healthy friendships and create an environment of inclusion and belonging for all.
Key programs include Kimochis, URSTRONG, Kindness Club and our Buddy Program.
Friendship and kindness programs
“I like learning about Kimochis as they help me express how I’m feeling and know that I’m not alone in feeling that way.”
Poppy, Year 3
The Kimochis program teaches our girls in Years K to 3 the skills and language to recognise, articulate and regulate their feelings.
Friendship and kindness programs
“We learn that friendships can change and that is ok, and we learn how to talk it out when we have a ‘friendship fire’. It has helped me be a good friend.”
Zanny, Year 3
The URSTRONG program for Years 1 to 6 teaches concepts, skills and language to help our girls build and maintain healthy friendships.
Friendship and kindness programs
“This term I am my class Kindness Captain. We do fun things like getting to know girls across the Junior School and playing games. We also wrote cards to Year 12 to wish them good luck for their exams and we are now making a play about being kind to the environment.”
Elina, Year 3
Kindness Club is our student-led initiative spreading messages of hope, positivity, and pay-it-forward acts at school and within our community.
Friendship and kindness programs
“I love spending time with my buddy as she tells the best jokes and is a role model for me. She told me all the exciting things about camp and what I have to look forward to.”
Ivy, Year 3
Our Buddy Program pairs younger girls with older girls for friendship and mentoring that goes both ways.
Thoughtfully designed with Junior School girls in mind
Expert specialist teachers
Junior School students at Pymble benefit from expert specialist teachers who deliver curriculum lessons in STEM, Languages, Creative and Performing Arts and PDHPE. The Junior School languages program, for instance, introduces your daughter to three languages as she moves through the school - Italian (K-2), Chinese (3-4) and French (5-6) - to help develop her understanding of different cultures, perspectives and ways of the world.
Purpose-built facilities
Pymble's campus is a beautiful and welcoming place featuring a mix of heritage buildings and contemporary facilities. The new, purpose-built Hunter and Vicars Centre features a state-of-the-art Junior School STEM Lab, contemporary classrooms for Years 5 and 6, a stunning new OSHC Centre with 160 places, and a Dance Centre of young girls' dreams. Junior School girls also have their own Libraries (K-2 and 3-6), Music and Performing Arts classrooms, and Art Rooms.
Children's Kindness Convention
Now approaching its sixth year, the Children's Kindness Convention was launched by Pymble in 2022 to collaborate with Year 5 students from schools across Australia. Delegates are inspired by young people who have already made a difference in their communities to work together and create real solutions to current problems. Today, Pymble remains actively involved in the Kindness Convention and collaborates with other schools to co-host and lead this important event.
DREAM Diploma
Incorporating the Cambridge International Global Perspectives course, Pymble's DREAM Diploma is offered exclusively to our students in Years 5 and 6 to build a portfolio of learning that sits outside of regular lessons. Built around the five pillars of DARE, REACH, EXPERIENCE, ADVOCATE, and MASTER, the program inspires girls to step outside their comfort zones, pursue what matters to them and approach learning with courage, curiosity and determination.
Pymble Wise Phone Initiative
We know parents feel torn between keeping their children connected and protected from harm when it comes to mobile phones. Our world-leading Pymble Wise Phone program offers a safe, suitable mobile phone choice for students in Years 4 to 9. A Pymble Wise Phone has all the power of a smartphone without an internet browser or social media apps, supporting improved academic performance, healthier relationships and reduced exposure to harmful content.
INTELLIGENT LEARNING FOR GIRLS
Our four focus areas for teaching and learning at Pymble are designed to develop each girl’s passion for learning and scholarship, a strong assurance of her own worth, and the desire to contribute meaningfully to her local and global communities.
We call this our Watch Us Change the World strategic direction.
