Coding for Girls
Years 3 to 11
Pymble‘s Coding program teaches girls to think computationally as well as to code. Skills learned in Coding are applied directly across Robotics, Mathematics, Science and Technology, and the logic learned in one programming language transfers readily to the next, making it one of the most valuable skills students can build for the future.
The College offers four progressive levels of Coding programs to work through, plus a weekly STEM Coding Challenge for Junior School competitors.
Level 1: Create with Code
Years 3 and 4: Introduces students to computer programming (coding) through fun, guided, creative projects using block-based Scratch.
Level 2: Design with Code
Years 4 and 5: A year-long, project-based course in which students build 25 Scratch projects, including original versions of games such as Geometry Dash, Pacman, Space Invaders and Asteroids, an analogue clock, quiz games and interactive drawing apps.
Level 3: Code to Design
Years 5 to 8: A year-long course marking the shift from block-based to text-based coding, using Java, a professional language used in animation, AI simulation and 3D design, across more than 20 hands-on projects.
Level 4: Code to Compute
ears 6 to 11: Introduces students to Python, a professional language used across Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Engineering and Robotics, across 25 projects. Ideal for students who enjoy advanced Mathematics, problem-solving or Robotics, and a strong foundation for further study in computing, AI and digital innovation.
2026 STEM Coding Challenge
Years 3 to 6: This weekly program is students keen to take part in the STEM Coding Challenge, one of Australia's most popular STEM and coding competitions. Working in teams, students code their own computer game to a given theme, then submit the game, documentation and a short promotional video, building skills in software engineering, creativity, teamwork, game and product design, problem-solving and digital marketing along the way.
