More than 70 students are enrolled, including several working towards their Remote Pilot Licence.
What students learn
- Coding and engineering — students program drones using Python and block-based tools to gain skills in automation and AI.
- Aerodynamics and physics — students gain a deeper understanding of scientific practice and theory learning how lift, thrust and stability work in flight.
- Pilot training and Remote Pilot Licence — students engage in hands-on flight practice, safe navigation and mission planning, with the opportunity to obtain a drone licence.
- Real-world projects — students explore drone use in environmental monitoring, media production and search-and-rescue scenarios.
- Drone Soccer and Performance Drones — students build high-level piloting skills through Drone Soccer competition, and coding and communication skills by programming Performance Drones to deliver synchronised light displays.
